A DAY in the life of identical twins is how Freshwater’s Mark and Brett Nichols describe their short film Identical, which has been selected as a finalist in Tropfest, on February 14. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/northern-beaches/freshwater-twins-make-the-finals-of-tropfest-with-selfeffacing-comedy/news-story/dc864aeb2ad32afa645d5b4450f41d9aBut they are quick to add their characters are the antithesis of their true selves.
“I think our mum tried to make us like this,” Brett said. “Dressing us in the same blue skivvies. By the time we were 8 or 9 we said ‘no way’. “This film is effectively what would have happened if we hadn’t told mum to shove the skivvies.” The pair were short-listed for last year’s Tropfest final with the film Washed Up but missed out on the top-16.
Mark said inclusion this year is the biggest thing to happen in their filmmaking lives. The 16 Tropfest finalist films, will premiere live in Sydney’s Centennial Park on Valentine’s Day, and will also be broadcast free-to-air from 9pm on SBS 2.
